CRANKD
Spin your mouse in circles to scan the environment around you. Find upgrades, explore the world. Avoid the "IT" at all costs.
|
Step 1
Keep Cranking
Move your mouse in a continuous circle. That motion charges the LIDAR projector and fires point cloud pulses outward, building a 3D scan of the space around you. Stop circling and the scan dies. You go dark. |
|
|
Step 2
Find The Exit
The scan reveals the shape of the world. Read the point cloud to navigate. The green exit glows through the dark. Get to it before IT gets to you. Five rounds. |
Something is in there with you. It tracks you through the dark. It gets faster every round. It doesn't need the LIDAR.
Five rounds total. The only way out is the green light.

Rounds
5 escalating rounds. The pursuer gets faster. The pressure builds. Short runs, immediate restarts. Don't Stop Cranking. |

Very unique interpretation of the theme that I think works quite well! I like the idea of the controls being the mechanic that is spinning rather than the gameplay elements. The gameplay was smooth and I didn't experience any bugs and I understood the goal clearly. For all of the levels (minus the outdoor tree one) I felt as if I was wondering around aimlessly just hoping to find the green circle- I didn't even know what I was searching for on the first level. I didn't find any upgrades on any levels except the first and for the 2nd and 3rd I was searching for an upgrade.
I couldn't get past round 4 because I kept running into walls when IT was right behind me, which is maybe just a skill issue on my end. Overall I think you captured the them well and the atmosphere is peak, there are just some gameplay elements that maybe need to be ironed out more!
Very nice idea & implementation of the theme! The constant effort of swirling the mouse/having to be present to swirl the mouse makes the chase feel much more intense. Really smart idea for an atmospheric/chase game. My only initial thought is that the levels could have been kept a little shorter or perhaps there could have been something offering a little extra nudge in the direction of the goal - I got hopelessly lost at points and just had no sense of where I hadn't already looked.
if you'd like to give it another shot, the maps have been reworked and a green guide line was added, first level is tutorial. check the devlog to learn more :) thanks for playing !
my first time making maps hope you all like it
